A blacklist is a touchy subject.
I would be for one only if it were operated by people who actually researched the complaints that are voiced about schools.
It is too easy to post a school on a blacklist (as is the case in most of these lists on the net) based on complaints made by any foreigner that was not happy with his job, regardless of the reasons.
These complaints are too often unverified and not much more valid than rumors and highly subjective "knee-jerk" responses by the teachers who post or voice them.
I real blacklist should be run with some sort of regulation and a standard of veracity that unfortunately does not seem to exist on most of the existing blacklists. Quite a few times on here there have been threads bashing (moreon the old board) a school and the responses have sometimes shown how unfounded these complaints were. This is why there has to be some standards of verification.
There should also be a "White List" of schools that are recommended by Teachers who have worked there, the same level of regulation and verification should apply to this list. |
