Hi,

Canon PowerShot A710 IS

I want to buy the above digital Camera. It is pretty new so I am having trouble finding it in the big places like homeplus etc... They have similar models, some older and some newer.

Anyway - has anyone bought or seen on sale the above camera...

I am on the south coast so I could get to Gwanju, or Daegu easily enough.

I will also visit Seoul in the new year so that's another option.

Any sightings?

Hi there,

Go to danawa.co.kr and do a search to see where the stores are located. A710 IS seems to be a pretty decent camera, but I'd get G7 if I were you. G7 is only a bit more expensive, but better in many ways. Reviews and discussions of both cameras (and more) can be found from HERE.

I found the A710 in a couple of places. Cheapest place I found was at Technomart (Seoul) where it was 50,000 won cheaper than Namdaemun.

I ended paying a bit more and buying the Powershot A640 and am very happy with it. The only negative thing I could say about it is that the optical zoom is only 4 times, whereas the 710 is 6 I believe? Oh.. and it doesn't have the image stabilizer feature.

Apart from that it is excellent.

I biggest benefit of the A640 is that the LCD display can be rotated which protects it from bangs; a very useful feature. Broken LCD displays are quite a common thing especially when travelling.
