| Thailand is also a nation of Nazi intensity hate. The USA has recently taken in 10 of thousands Hmong refugees who were not allowed to settle in Thailand. They were granted political asylum in The US. Asylum seeker = "Jew in Oven". This would make Thailand Nazi Germany at its most racist. Have a good vacation and make sure you wash the blood off your hands before you come back. If you can ever really wash that kind of stain off. |

| Hi HT. Hope all is well. I'm in a Inet cafe in Laos. Its nice and warm here and there is a lovely river for swimming. Although I enjoy the opportunity for hiking, kayaking and swimming, I enjoy checking out the fine European braless hippie women in revealing natural cloth dresses. It really makes my trip worthwhile. Happy new year HT. |

|

BANGKOK BOASTS THE BEST FOOD IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, and IS A DINER'S PARADISE PAR EXCELLENCE!
Allow me to qualify:
IF you're *on a budget* (eg, a teacher, as I am),
then Bangkok has the best food in the world, hands down!
With the next two months off work, I'm tempted just to sit tight here in Seoul while saving my money and getting caught up on movie and book downloads.
However . . .
My favorite Egyptian restaurant in the entire world (never yet been to Egypt, must admit!) is waiting for me down there on Suk soi 3.
Just round the corner, there are some very decent curry houses.
Western food? Bangkok beats Seoul HANDS DOWN! Just a single for-instance, my last dinner in Thailand earlier this year was the beef stroganoff in the Nana Hotel. Just delectable! And quite cheap, too!
WHERE DO I GET BEEF STROGANOFF IN SEOUL?
Bus Stop, just up the street: split-pea soup to die for. Lamb chops from New Zealand.
I DON'T EVEN GO FOR THAI FOOD, though of course that's great too!
Thailand rocks your world for food!
Or it does MINE, anyway.
Enough said? |

| Yep. Some good grub there. Saigon has good stuff too, Mexican, Italian, etc..I miss those fine meals that cost all of a few bucks. Say, 5 bucks including a big beer, and you get a nice large meal of delicious food that really fills your boots. I've had some good meals in Thailand for under a dollar. Simple rice and chicken but pretty damn good for a buck or even half. Damn these threads for reminding me why those places a better, at least for food options. I thought Vancouver rocked for variety of restaurants. Not cheap though. Strange that it seemed to me Vietnamese food in Canada was better than in Vietnam itself, though they do some good fish and seafood meals for a not so pricey meal. Also have been told Cambodia can be good. |

And you will be most likely run over by a car in Korea. Whats the difference? |

The difference is, Korea doesn't tout itself as the land of fantastic drivers. They say lots of other bullsh*t, but they certainly don't say that.
On the other hand, Thailand touts itself as a peaceful refuge of Buddhist ideals and enlightenment, which it clearly is not. And their king is a d*ckhead. |

So far on my vacation here, I have to agree with the title of this thread.
I must have fallen for every scam in the book, and there are a lot of 'em. Jeez what a place....can't even take a tour of the city without being dragged into some sort of scam or other.
I bought one of those package tours from a local, (yeah I know )
and things are not going well. All night bus trip, finding my "hotel" is really a guest house/tour office, finding that the things that were supposed to be included are not, (breakfast)
wondering how many extra charges are going to be on the bill when I check out. It ain't a lot of fun.
I am pretty tempted to cut things short and head back to the land of K.
Maybe I'm just a bozo for listening to some of the advice given on this board. |

Perhaps I am over-reacting. Things seem to be going better since I've left Bkk and am now in Chang mai. The New Year's celebration was really something to see. I am a bit dissappointed at the number of foreign tourists here, but I guess it is high season.
It's definately better to travel with someone, if it's your first visit to Thailand. Solo travellers who are first time visiters are immediate targets for every scam artist in BKK. Or maybe I have a "please take my money" sign on my forehead.
Happy New Year |

A bunch of bombs went off in Bangkok and killed millions of people over New Years.
OK. Only two people died, but millions were injured....
Ok. Fine, only two dozen or so were injured....
But Thailand still sucks donkey balls. |
