he was the oldest president. although he pardoned Tricky Dick, aka Richard Nixon, he did provide the world with a few laughs.

He was a better man than most. Not a great president but look at the crap pile he walked into. I still have a photo of my father shaking hands with him in the Oval Office. Thank god it was before Slick Willie and the subsequent stains.

Wow. First JB and then this. Now I expect to see political cartoons showing him tripping over the golden gate and crashing into St. Peter!

The best anecdote I can give regarding Ford is something Paul Krassner wrote about the issue of Karma:

Chevy Chase became famous in the seventies lampooning President Ford by famous pratfalls on SNL. Subsequently this activity caused Chevy major back pains. As a result, he became addicted to painkillers.

This addiction lead him to the Betty Ford clinic.

Karma.

'Decent' is a good word to describe him. He was a man of character and integrity. He was made VP because of those personal qualities at a time when they were in especially short supply. He served the country well. In a way, I think he was a great president--not because of the policy choices he made in office, but because of the kind of man he was.

A clarification of the OP age statement.

"Ford was the longest living former president" (OP Link)

"I'm a Ford, not a Lincoln."

I think we're all still trying to figure that one out.

Ask Squeaky, Lincolns die when you shoot them, Fords keep on running.

I never will forgive him for the BS Warren Report. Time and place in history I know, but all the same shame on him.

Have you read the report or are you relying on the word of Sara Jane Moore.

CNN is reporting Gerald Ford has died. The media is determined to remember him in the best possible light.

Please see the following for Gerald Ford:

It is important that we use this opportunity to publicize the role he played in both the cover-up of the assassination of JFK and Watergate.

Regicide: how many times are you going to cut-and-paste and repeat this exact same post?

In effect, you are hanging propaganda posters here and in the Off-Topic forum.

Gerald Ford proved the lone nut theory twice.
