I saw some adverts for Itaewon's Wolfhound Pub on some different sites lately so I went with a mate of mine and his girlfriend last night to check it out and I have to say I was really impressed! Here is my mini review:
Food: Unbelievable. Even if I hated everything else about this pub I would come back for the food. The menu was small with only about 10-12 entrees but everything we tried was superb. I had the shepherds pie, my mate the steak and his gf the fish and chips. We all sampled eachothers food and each were absolutely delicious. We ordered an apple crumble for dessert to share but it was so good we ended up ordering one for each of us. I talked to one of the guys working there and asked him about the food. He told me that they had hired the head chef from the InterContinental Hotel for 3 weeks to set up the menu and train the Korean chefs. Well the quality shows. Better than Geckos. Easily as good as if not better than 3 Alley.
Drinks: We only drank beer so I cant comment on anything else but they had a good selection of draft beer. My mates drank Hoegaarden and Alley Cat draft all night while I stuck to Guinness.
Atmosphere/Music/Crowd: Lots of wood and comfortable chairs. Warm and cozy. Good variety of music. I requested 4 songs and they played them all. Good mix of westerners and Koreans and men and women. The upstairs had more seating but less people as there were only about 10-12 people at the bar and around the pool table. I assume it fills up on weekends. It was a younger crowd than 3 alley and less soldiers than Geckos but I could see that changing soon.
Service: This was my only problem with the place. As it got busier it was harder and harder to get the servers attention who were usually behind the bar serving drinks and not around the tables serving customers.
Itaewon needs more quality places like this. Well I'm off to eat there again tonight. I want to try another dish on the menu. |

I went on a Saturday afternoon and ordered Wolfhound's English breakfast. It was served cold and I had to take a massive dump afterwards.
They show rugby or something but I'm not sure if they can offer the choices that Scrooge can. |

Good English-style food and a wide variety of drafts (for Korea). Recommended. |

Sounds like viral marketing to me, mr guru. Even my Irish friends agree they'd rather have a beer in a place with atmosphere like Three Alleys than suffer the plastic paddys at the Wolfhound. |
