| Are there many jobs available teaching adults in Seoul in a classroom setting? They seem to be very few compared to teaching kids. |

Most adults don't have the time or the need for private English study once they've entered into mainstream employment. In addition, most adults are spending their money on their child's English tuition fees. Hence, there is not much in the way of teaching adults in Korea.
The few hagwon chains that cater for adults include:
English Channel
Pagoda
ECC
However, these places typically have split shifts and are thus pretty undesirable for teachers.
You can also try corporate teaching, but it seems that you need to find these gigs rather than them finding you.
If you count university students as adults, then there are quite a few of these around! |

I have ONLY taught adults. The jobs are out there, and yes, most of them have split shifts.
Depending on the times, they can be good, or they can be dreadful.
Mine were great, but I knew some people getting classes throughout the day.
I personally enjoyed having an 8 hour break during the day, since
A) The university honeys all have breaks during the day too
B) there are many opportunities for work outside of your primary place of employment (if you have an appropriate visa and permission in your contract *cough cough* *hint hint*)
C) you can get all the restaurant lunch specials (in Seoul)
D) Rambo and Back to the Future are on OCN and XTM in the afternoons 98% of the year
E) you can take prolonged naps
F) you can have afternoon soju with students
G) you can get exercise by pushing your way through ajummas during afternoon shopping trips
H) the movie theatres, gyms, and other places of recreation are a lot less crowded during the day |

| If you're looking for a good gig where you teach only adults, I have to recommend Pagoda Jongro. I loved the small-class sizes and motivated students that this school offers. You really get to know your students here and find that teaching in Korea doesn't just have to be an exercise in going through the motions. Living back in Canada now has me longing for the good life which was for me between 2000 and 2005 when all I wanted was a good time and a fair wage. As long as you don't aspire to something more than a teacher or get tangled up in the politics of the school, you'll find that the place isn't as bad as many have made it out to be. |
