I remember the ol' Mulroney Charlottetown Accord referendum back in '92 and how we, as voters, just trashed that sucker. I'm not sure if it was so much a referendum on Canadian unity or just a referendum on a guy who gave us the GST and record debt. I think it was more the latter.
If you want to introduce a referendum, do it when you're popular. |

| It wouldn't be a referendum of the people, it would be a bill passed in parliament that makes people vote on their preferred candidate when an election comes about. |
