|
|
Hello Everybody!
I'm the poster that wrote about Br English Jr.: the cult organization masquerading as an English school. When I left and found a new job, I needed all of my documents to do a work visa run. Well, guess what? They lost all of my documents including my precious diploma. Now it will take months to get a replacement one sent over here.
My question is this: why is a diploma necessary? A sealed transcript is iron-clad proof that you are a university grad. This seems so silly. Does anyone know of a way around this. I can get a degree verification form much quicker. Would that help any? I would appreciate any help in this regard... |

The diploma is what you need to get the job. The transcripts are just to prove that the diploma is legit.

Do you really believe your documents were "lost". Bullshit, he's lying! Did you do anything to confront him about this? Get in his face and cause a big scene in front of others (teachers, students, parents) make sure that everyone understands why it's going down...if he doesn't cough them up...then, kick his ass! |

I agree with Spliff. How can they lose your diploma? Did they throw it away, or just forget where they put it? Are they planning on scanning it and selling fake diplomas? Either way they are at fault.
Stand up on this one. It sounds like they are trying to prevent you from working for a competitor. Make them pay for it. |

This is just the kind of nonsense that leads me to want a one-time only visa process where the national ed office gets all our documents and gives us an ID that allows to apply for jobs without having to supply the same documents to the same office over and over again. |

I'm with spliff. Kick your boss's ass and get it out of him. Ran sack his office because it's probably locked up in his desk drawers. |

If there is something to be learned from this:
NEVER, NEVER let your boss keep your diploma. If at all possible, get notarized copies before you leave your home country and leave your original at home. |

And then kick your boss' ass anyway - cause you just know he'd have stolen it if you weren't so cautious. |

I'd advise against this. Unless you don't mind your salary one day going directly from your boss to the ajumma you live with. |

Damn, I never thought about it like that. You are so right. What are they, friggin' retarted? Do they love paperwork? Maybe they need oodles of pointless paperwork to keep their budget in tact. They're either complete idiots or diabolical geniuses. |

This happened to me as well. Not much I could do...they paid for the replacement. I figure there is someone in Korea running around with my degree now...I'm pretty sure it didn't evaporate. |

Oh, if this could only happen!! Think about how much easier it would be for IMMIGRATION, let alone us teachers!! I also think they should "grandfather" in anyone who has been here X number of years (3? 5?).
We're only dreaming, right?? Damn! Isn't there ANYONE who could swing a gig teaching immigration folks, then bring this up? Or someone who has a friend working there? Or someone's wife's cousin's husband's uncle or something??? |
