They are long overdue for a crash. |
I heard they CRASH more than 110% of the time
Only joshing - I flew with them and I thought they were fine. And even if you do crash, the kimchi will protect you (somehow). |

| And for those crowing about KAL landing once on a taxiway, between 1996 and 2006 in USA there were 117 such incidents. One hundred and seventeen. |

Back to the topic at hand, yes, you can plug in your laptop on Korean Air. But as a fair warning, that doesn't mean it will work. First of all, if you're flying economy, there's only one plug for the three seats. So if your seatmates want to plug in their laptop, you may either have to rotate plugging it in or fight to the death to use it.
Also, the guy sitting next to me tried plugging in his laptop, but the plug in our row of seats apparently didn't work, and so they moved him a row back. Unfortunately for him, he got stuck next to the big drunk guy who kept getting up every five seconds to go to the bathroom. |

I think it depends on the aircraft.
I flew business class from bangkok to seoul last summer, and i had an outlet. then i changed planes and flew business class from seoul to L.A., and they didn't have any outlets for me in business class - only first class...i wasn't too happy.
Economy class - I've never seen it, but I guess I've only flown Korean Air twice in the last 3-4 years....I've decided that I'll only fly places that Singapore Air visits... |

| Thx for the reply guys. I just feel for those who have to take a flight in any class that goes for more than 17+ hours straight. |

Here goes another rude reply (though not as bad as they're due for a crash).
Stow the laptop for a day and bring a book? |

They are long overdue for a crash. |
Last weekend they landed on a taxiway at Akita (it was in the Chosun online, I believe, although I'm too lazy to provide links). Taxiway isn't as wide as a runway. Not a crash, but qualifies as an incident, and would get the pilots fired at many airlines. |
That's not a very comforting thought... |
What a sick comment to say - they are overdue for a crash.
KAir did have a bad history of accidents but they drastically re-engineered their operational processes. Their SkyTeam member pilots/consultans (Delta/Air France/NWA) came in after last incident and made changes/recommendations/follow-ups which KAir embraced and went beyond the requirements set by the aviation agencies.
|
Just curious- how do you think they went beyond the requirements set by aviation agencies? They've met the standards, but I wouldn't say they have went above and beyond. KAL isn't very proactive until a major crash occurs. Then they get their butts in gear. The only reason they brought in consultants from Delta was because they were about to be banned from US airspace. Incidentally, those consultants are gone now. There wasn't one incident that occured while the Delta guys were at KAL, but several months after the safety VP left, the taxiway incident occurred.
Anyway, the recent taxiway landing is a big deal. Sure, it has happened at other airlines, and pilots make mistakes, but it's not something to be swept under the rug or minimized. Other a/c don't expect planes to be landing on a taxiway, and other a/c could have been taxiing on that taxiway. KAL was lucky there wasn't an incursion. Plus, it happened just last weekend, so that's why I mentioned it~
That said, I don't think KAL is unsafe, but I don't think they are perfect, either, and as for going beyond the requirements, I don't recall KAL winning any kind of worldwide awards for safety... |

| Okay, maybe KAL isn't the safest in the world. But at least the flight attendants' uniforms (and until recently the aircraft?) aren't that pukey, butt-ugly colour... jesus, I don't even know if that horrible colour has a name. Asiana Barf-Brown™? |
