I have been working with Hazel from Kims Korea. She is wonderful and helped me find a very good position in Jeonju- 2.2 million Won/month, 20,000 won for overtime, severance, airfare, insurance, pension. I spoke with two of the teachers who say that the situation is good. Unfortunately, I cannot accept this position, but it sounds like a solid bet for a newbie.
I'm not a recruier. I'm only posting about this because I feel bad that I can't accept this job after she worked hard to negotiate a good contract.
Even if this position doesn't interest you, I highly recommend Kims Korea. I felt Hazel listened to my concerns and always offered me positions that matched my criteria. |

Suggestion:
Post what the two teachers you talked to said about the job. That is where the real information is. It will tell people looking for work what this place has to offer that makes it a good gig.
(The information you listed is just standard stuff. Pretty much everyone gets pretty much all of that.) |

From one teacher:
Do you get along well with the Director?: I get along just fine with the director. She has been nothing but friendly and generous to me. She is fairly reasonable, and if you have any problem she is happy to talk to you about it (Through an interperter as her english is not so good).
Does the school pay on time?: I have never had an issue. ANd, although I haven't needed one, it is simple to get an advance.
Other things: The Korean teachers are friendly and extremely helpful. THe kids are (for the most part) good kids...if not highly motivated. The ex-pat community in Jeon-ju is actually quite large. There are several
common hang-outs and a few key people that can get you hooked up to the
community at large pretty easily.
From another teacher:
I am thinking about renewing my contract. I always get along with the manage but she doesn't speak a lot of english. The pay is on time and sometime you can get an advance. I have about 5 to 10 students in my classes. |

I find it hard to believe when someone says they never had any problems at all with their director. That's like someone who says their parents have never argued. Yeah, right. |
