I suggest "Jeopardy". I do this with basic level students all the time. Come up with 5 or 6 categories based on what you've covered so far, such as Colours, Numbers, My Name is..., Spelling, any phrases or sentences that you've learned in the book. Make up five questions for each category - if you want, each question can get harder, and make the points increase accordingly. Draw the categories on the board, like a Jeopardy board, then split the kids up into two teams (My kids always call this the "one-two" game because I split them up into teams by assigning them to team one or two). Let them use their books, if you want, and I usually give them two tries to get it right. This game usually lasts between 20-30 minutes, so it would time out nice for you. Anyway, even though it seems like a game to them, you can review lots of things, and I find it's a lot more dynamic than bingo.
For example, Colour questions might go like, "Show me Red!", and then the kids have to point to something red in the classroom. Or more difficult might be "Apples are....." "Jin Woo's shirt is...." Spelling is a great category, which always kills lots of time because they rarely get it right on the first go. If you've covered time, drawing a clock on the board and getting them to tell the time is good, too.
Whatever you do, I hope it goes well! |
