Trying to make a multi-city trip is next to impossible! I want to go from ICH to Phuket, then to Pattaya, then back to ICH. I've looked at a round trip ticket to BKK with a separate roundtrip ticket to Phuket. Then taking the bus to Pattaya. This gets more expensive with each quote I get.

Does anyone have a solution? I've done the online thing w/ Singapore, Korean, Thai and NOKAIR. The more I try, the more confused I am. If I were only going to BKK or Phuket it would be easy.

If 'cheap' is your main priority, get a round-trip ticket ICN-BKK on one of the major carriers (Thai Airways, for ex), then a separate ticket from BKK-Phuket on one of the discount airlines. I think Air Asia is the cheapest. Also try Bangkok Airways. You can reserve that ticket online with a credit card. Then of course take the bus from Bangkok to Pattaya.

Drop any arrangement to fly into Pattayas U-Tapao airport (you still have to take ground transportation for about 40mins to get into Pattaya proper from U-Tapao). The new Bangkok Airport (Suvarnabhumi Airport) is on the Pattaya side of Bangkok. You can only get marginally closer to Pattaya by flying into U-Tapao and it will cost you a lot more money and hassle.

Where is everyone getting these cheap(ish) tickets to Phuket/Bangkok? Can anyone pass on their agent's contact info, please? I just got quoted 820 000+tax to fly from Incheon to Ko Samui leaving Feb. 24 and returning March 4. This is so expensive, more than what I paid over Christmas(same agent, same destination). It'd be nice if Air Asia flew into Ko Samui too but it looks like Bangkok Airways has cornered the market on this one. Arrgh, I can relate to your frustration happygirl. Since I only have one week off, I don't want to spend too much time transferring all over. Should I just folk over the 920 000? Ohmigawd, that price looks crazy! Any suggestions?

air asia doesnt fly to Samui, Only Bangkok Airways does since they own the airport. You can fly to Surat Thani then take a boat over, cheaper but more time consuming as I'm not sure the flights work with the boat schedule

What is going on? Just got an email that the seats may not be available and now the prices have gone up 100,000!!! Twisted Evil

I swear this is one of the most frustrating things I've experienced since I've been in Korea. I's give just about anything to do an expedia.com or cheaptickets.com thing on my own!

I got another quote from the travel agent in my building last night.... another 100,000 My friend is flying from Houston to BKK for less than what it's going to cost me!!!

This is the worst time of year to be flying. Korean travel agents operate a terrible system whereby you need to reserve your tickets months in advance (ie. you should have booked this ticket back in Aug/Sep)

About two weeks before depature, they release the price and then it's a lolly scramble as people cancel seats and get the best deal they can. Sometimes you might find a cheap seat opens up. Sometimes not.

try some of the online ticket places with a korean speaking friend

tourexpress.com/whypaymore.co.kr to see if you can find something.

At this point in time you might be SOL.

I just booked rountrip direct to Phuket on Asiana from Feb.5 to Feb. 14 for 780,000 return tax included. it was about 100,000 cheaper to go through bangkok on thai. i like the direct route...got it through xanadu.....02-795-7771. The prices are higher starting at lunar new year till the end of the month though.

I started this process before the 30 days prior to flying date! I've been emailing, waiting, emailing withquetions, waiting......... that's why I'm so frustrated. It's taken over 2 weeks to get a firm answer from any of the 4 travel agents I've been trying to communicate with.

There was no way i could have booked much further in advance due to no schedule for winter camp end date. Did I think the uni woul have this info ahead of time? No way. I knew that was a pipe dream. I didn't even know for sure if I was teaching until the week prior to starting, but that's another rant.

If I make the bank transfer and the "waiting" flight doesn't have a seat what happens? It's the BKK to TPE flight. Will I be forced to pay the difference to get another higher priced flight? What about the TPE to ICH leg cost?

30 days is still way too late. Like I said 3-4 months for this time of year.

Try the sites I mentioned.

If you are on a wait-listed flight it means that you could be stuck waiting around for no-show (ie someone who has booked their ticket and doesn't show up) as you have no confirmed seat.

ok. i accept the situation. i don't understand how you can book a flight when

1. you don't know if you can afford it because you don't know what it will cost
2. you can't pay for it 3 or 4 months in advance because you have to earn that money

my friend looked at the sites. she found tickets available for the same times i want. why can't the travel agent?

welcome to the land of the not quiet right. This ticketing situation is something that drives both newbies and old-timers around the bend. However these online sites at least mean you can avoid the madness that is Korean travel agents.

Oh, and I know that the flight from Auckland to Christchurch is crazy. I can get a flight for $100 NZ (about $50US ish). It's the other flights I'm wondering about.
