I need to obtain an Australia wide criminal history check for my new job.

I contacted the Queensland police (my home state) and they sent me the application form to fill out and send back to them. As this document is confidential, they informed me of some security measures required before I can send it back to them:

1) I need to have a Korean police officer witness me signing the application form and add their signature and/or official stamp.

2) I also need to show them my original passport and/or drivers licence and have them sign a copy.

I've gone to my local police station here in Korea and they informed me that I had to go to the police headquarters. I went to the police headquarters and they told me I had to go to the Australian embassy first and then come back to them.

I contacted the Australian embassy today and they said they would witness it if the Queensland police agree. Problem is, the embassy is only open during hours which I work and, being over an hour away, it's going to be very hard to do this.

So, has anyone else been in a similar situation and managed to get the necessary signatures? If so, how did you do it?

I'll be giving the Queensland police a call tomorrow to ask more advice but thought I'd try my luck here as well.

Cheers.

Unless things have changed, you don't need to go through the Queensland police, you need to get it done through the Federal police because its for OVERSEAS EMPLOYMENT (I'm assuming it is anyway). At least that's what I had to do a few years ago to open up businesses here.

Here's the website for it with all the forms required (downloadable and printable) http://www.afp.gov.au/business/criminal_history_checks .

If I remember correctly, it's only 2 forms and I didn't need to get all my signatures verified. I did give my old man a call back home to get him to call them to double check everytrhing was okay and had no porblems. It does take them about a month to get the criminal history check back to you though, or over 2 months in my case as the first one dissappeared in the mail once it reached Korea.

Thanks for the reply. I gave the Federal police a call today and they confirmed what you said. It's one form and no witness signatures necessary.
