I found a falsifiable hypothesis in the same book which I quoted earlier.

On page 207, the book tells of a tribe "dwelling near the source of the Ganges . . . who had no mouths, and therefore could not eat, but lived by the breath of their nostrils, except when they took a far journey, and then they mended their diet with the smell of flowers."

Just as one could travel to the North Pole to find out if Santa Claus lives there, or travel to the peak of Mount Olympus to find out if the Greek gods live there, one could travel to the source of the Ganges River to find out if mouth-less people live there.

Actually, I've sometimes wondered if maybe some/most people might have a built-in immunity to things like AIDS, but this isn't something that can be checked too easily...

You can't have a control group where you inject people with the HIV virus and wait and see how many people actually become infected.

I guess scientists could take tissue or blood from people and start checking, BUT until they convince me otherwise, I'm going to go with my hypothesis and say that not everyone can become infected by HIV....just like poison ivy, which doesn't affect me, but drives my brother batty.

Large samples can help you here.

Take a large group of prostitutes that ply their trade unprotected from AIDS, and look for some indication of an infection rate by comparing infection rates with time in the job.

If there is no genetic immunity you will find some scatter along a line. The slope of the line indicates something about the rate of infection, steep slope, high rate of encounter and infection.

If there is a genetic immunity there will be two groups, those who get infected at the background rate, and those who are immune. With a small sample size, the latter will be hidden by the noise, but with thousands, they will statrt to stick out.

This has been done, and after comparing the genome of those infected with the "immune" group, some of the genes responsible are coming out.

My religion is right.

If you ask for any verifiable evidence for my religion, I will only tell you that God asks us to accept His word with or without evidence.

I can see supernatural entities which you can't see.

In 1917, two girls took pictures of each other in the forest with fairies only a few inches tall.
When other people offered to go into the forest with them to investigate, they said oh no, the fairies were very shy, and they won't come out if anyone else is present.

If you wish, you can work a twist on this escape clause by saying that you have seen gods and goddesses, angels, or whatever other entities your cryptozoological creatures your religion believes in, and say that the privilege is reserved for people who are as pure and holy as yourself.

It's just a coincidence.

Back to the Cottingsly fairies of 1917. Someone noticed that the fairies in the photographs looked exactly like illustrations in a book published only a few years previously. It is far more likely, then, that the girls purchased the book and cut out the illustrations.

However, we can never be absolutely sure that the Cottingsly girls did not happen to see fairies which happened to resemble the illustrations in that book.

Herbert Armstrong teaches us that every current event can be explained in religious terms, that the world is soon coming to an end, that we should not observe Christmas, and that we should worhip on Saturday instead of Sunday. He receives these revelations from God. However, the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Seventh-Day Adventists preach similar doctrines. Did they receive these teachings from God, too? Not at all. They came up with the teachings by themselves, but Armstrong received the teachings from God.

On page 239 of Icons of Evolution, Jonathan Wells says, "The truth is that a surprising number of biologists quietly doubt or reject some of the grander claims of Darwinian evolution. But--at least in America--they must keep their mouths shut or risk condemnation, marginalization, and eventual expulsion from the scientific community."

That reminds me of the English school director who told me that all of my students hated my educational games, songs, and picture books, and instead would rather spend the whole classtime drilling on the textbook, just like they did in her class. If they showed any enthusiam for my games, songs, and books, that was only because Korean society taught them to be polite.

Random Korean: Dokdo is Korean.

Me: Why is that?

Random Korean: Because it is!!!

If I am not convinced yet, the latter sentence will then be shouted at me.
