Let's check "Leslie Benfield Effect." I know for various reasons some expat people hate the TV show where she appears every sunday but let's give some credit to its good. I guess her few Korean sentences on TV can be zillion times more worth than a hundred of ranting posts on expat message boards. |

MBC was interviewing him in the superbowl pre show and i wish he would have been a bit more controversial but he has to tow the line and he may well not know of the deep seated predjudice that exists in korea. |
I had a thread about my black friend who has a teaching degree, over 3 years teaching abroad and one here in Korea. He still has a hard time finding work. You won't find any sympathy on this boards most people were aregueing stupid crap like you shouldn't use the word black or a person of color. Rather then dealing with the real issue that Koreans not all but most are a bunch of racist xenophobes. But I due agree with your statement I think most owners would hire a three legged donkey if they could make a buck without losing students. Hines Ward wanted to cash in on his success instead of bringing up the real issues. I never heard a Korean talk about the NFL or Hines Ward until he did something. Oh, well it must be his pure 5000 year old blood that made him so great! |

Yeah, my friend was helping his hagwon hire a new teacher recently. He told me that he recommend a black guy with 3 years experience, good references who is currently in country. Me and my friend have both been in korea for about the same time and know the danger signs to look for when recruiting new teachers, this guy passed the tests but the boss was iffy about him because of his race. eventually my friend made his boss see the light of day but it took a lot of persuasion on his part.
I don't really think hines sold out though. That dubious honour surely go's to Dennis Kang SUPER KOREAN. |
