Hi,
I have recently been to Immigration, after obtaining my VISA, to process my Alien Card. I am a little concerned. I have an apartment but my name is not on the lease as I am sharing. Immigration took my address, how do they check that you live at your address? Will this slow the proces down?
I hope someone can help me
Many thanks

| They don't 'check' if you live there. It's merely used in your registration as an alien. |

| I think just about everyone who has their housing provided by the school does not have their name on the lease. Don't worry about it. |

Don't worry, they just want to know where you live so when they are hunting you down to throw you in prison for being accused of a crime, they'll know where to check for you first. Although I'm sure everybody in the neighborhood will know where you live, should they ever "need" to find you.
No, seriously, I don't think they even care. They just need it because a month or two before your visa expires they send you a letter reminding you that your visa is going to expire. Not a big deal at all. |
