I'm walking down the sidewalk this morning, on my way to get a McDonald's breakfast (yes!), when all of a sudden I notice my left foot is sticking a little. So I stop and look at the bottom of my shoe, and, sure enough, some idiot Korean has spat his gum out on the sidewalk!
This country never ceases to amaze me. They have all this new technology, are the eleventh largest economy in the world, and they still can't figure out that gum goes in the trash can, not wherever you are when you happen to get tired of chewing it? Ridiculous. Back home, someone would've stopped a person for spitting out their gum and told them to pick it up. Hell, someone wouldn't even do it in the first place.
I've had a good time here, and the women are hot.. but I'm really counting my days until I can go back home, where people understand civility and manners. Korea is just too ridiculous sometimes. |

I have no idea where you are from, but everywhere I've been included people who litter. I've accepted it as a fact of life. |

that's right, kids back home never spit gum out on the sidewalk. They always take it home or look for a trashcan. |

yeah, really q.
stepping on gum is one of those internationally recognised quenticential annoying things. if you want to go on about korea being ridiculous, you've got a lot more bullets in your gun than the dud you just fired. |

Still not as good as your story about getting confused by the half naked girl's "mixed signals", but still pretty good. |

If not satire, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the thread, too. Hell, I've spat gum on the sidewalk (though aiming for the side) back home. |

Mom told me that when she was 5, she used to pick gum from under the church pew and chew it. |

Sound like you're fed up with Korea in general. Normally one wouldn't single out such a petty complaint. I imagine it's not the gum, but a whole host of annoyances combined that's bothering you. In any case, I understand you. More than 2 years of this place and any foreigner will go crazy. What I am fed up with is the constant noise - most of it coming from ridiculous sources like the loudspeakers of vegetable trucks driving around at 12 am. |

There's no way this is a serious rant. |

If Korea's so bad, Dev, why the *beep* did you stay one more year? Surely if it was that bad you'd have buggered off home to America-lite after your first year?
Mind you, the noise complaint is valid. Right now, as I speak, one of my co-teachers - a very attractive woman - is clipping her nails. It's a foul, irritating noise. Why can't these bloody women do that at HOME? |
