The Japs can be quite nasty pieces of work from time to time. They are xenophobic as heck.

There are more than a couple of posts which say the exact opposite. I think the thing to keep in mind is either attitude is just perception of individuals.

Maybe I'm just more aware of the signs. I rarely see them here. I see them everywhere in Japan.

Interview with the publisher of the magazine:

Quote:
ipcdigital.com: What did you wanted with the approach given to the magazine?

SS: Currently Japan is facing a lot of offences starred by foreigners. There must be a why. I wanted to find that why. I cant act as if nothing was actually happening. Today there are some Japanese afraid of foreigners and I wanted to survey these peoples psychology. I want you to read the magazine. Youll see.

ipcdigital.com: And what have you discovered so far?

SS: Foreigners crimes in Japan have a profile which changes depending on the country and this is what I also wanted to know. For example, about Chinese and Koreans. Japan welcomes them as kenshusei and that system is officially intended to they to learn Japanese working techniques and that they take them back to their countries. But it happens that they are put to work as common employees, but with low salaries and some of them cause minor offences. The kenshushei system is the problem that has been generated by Japan. It is a problem from here.

The above blog mentions that Family Mart agreed to pull the magazine off the shelves, although many locations are still selling it. THe magazine itself is a matter of free speech, but the bloggers are upset that Family Mart chose to carry this magazine since their stores don't stock many titles.

I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

As a whole they are the most xenophobic people I have experienced.

That's great! It reminds me of that scene in "There's Something About Mary" where Matt Dillon's character, when he finds out about Cameron Diaz' character's mentally challenged brother, tells her he loves "retards". Classic!

The Family Mart by my house for two years in a row was totally good to me. They were always throwing in little extra candies and crappy presents and stuff when I came down drunk to buy more booze and junk food. I figure boycotting a whole franchise because some of the franchise owners are supremacist scum is kinda over the top.
Seriously, they gave me lots of candy.
