Thats a shame. Now it means that the worlds money in agreement, will be keeping NK afloat. It will enable NK to continue to enslave it's masses.

I think the U.S. was smart to take the diplomatic course of making a step-by-step deal which North Korea's neighbors are also a party to. The alternatives were much worse. Turning up financial pressure further would have possibly resulted in collapse of the regime - which would first intensify suffering of NKs people and then result in a massive refugee problem in the reason - or it may have backed them into a corner where they might seriously consider launching a military strike that would devastate Seoul and probably Japan - if not Hawaii...

The fact that John Bolton is opposed to it indicates that it's not a neocon strategy...

The deal is already in shambles as NK announced that they will be receiving ship loads of free oil if they dismantle their facilities on a TEMPORARY BASIS...........so back to the table for more discussions.

What did you expect? Did you really think NK would be happy with this deal? No way.........they want food, money, medicine, recognition, etc.

And Japan is not even a player in the deal...........nor will Russia help on the oil.

This is a joke on the world.

It's a small step in the right direction if there's to be any diplomatic solution. Those of us situated anywhere near Seoul would be toast if there were an attempted pre-empted strike, and trying to financially squeeze the regime till it collapses would likely cause a lot more suffering, starvation, and a refugee crisis. It might also provoke NK to go out with a blaze of glory (that would more-or-less fry most of Seoul and Japan...)

Kim Jong-il is obviously a master of extortion and blackmail, but there are no good alternatives for the U.S. (without the support of the other major players led by China...)
