Yes yes and yes.
I'm not a girly girl, but rather a lesbian disguised as a man.
I named my first guitar after the protagonist.

The guy for B grade teen movie classics had to Savage Steve Holland, of Better Off Dead, and One Crazy Summer fame.

He had a weird sense of humor, but it worked on me. Loved his stuff. And his TV series, The Adventures of Beans Baxter.

The ultimate has to be Ferris, of course.

In 1979, a year I also remember, there were a couple of teen comedy movies that may have been confused with Fast Times. The most likely candidate would be Rock 'n' Roll High School about some teens hiring a band and revolting against their authoritarian prinicipal. Some other candidates from 1979 are Meatballs, Teen Lust, or Roller Boogie, just to name a few.

I think that Back to the Future (and the whole trilogy...) more-or-less qualifies as a great 80's teen flick (in the comedy/science-fiction genre...) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back_to_the_Future

Another notable Michael J. Fox movie made in the mid-80s was Teen-Wolf which was inspired by the 1957 cult classic, I Was a Teenage Werewolf ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teen_Wolf

How about Hairspray as a token John Waters' entry ? ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hairspray_%28film%29
