|
|
My friend was offered a Uni position- everything was sailing smoothly with documentation and all that, but at the last minute he gets a call saying "Immigration won't consider your visa because the transcript envelope is not embossed by your university."
Keep in mind:
1. The envelope itself is sealed.
2. the transcript itself is embossed.
So what is this:
1. New law?
2. Nutty random Immi Guy (reapply the next day with better results)?
3. The Uni making up some BS to try and not hire him at the last minute?
Hmmmmmm.

Why does not Korea immigration establish a tried and proven and reliable system of things when it comes to administrative processes??? No American universitys' transcript envelope is embossed, only a seal is stamped on the transcript itself along with an ink stamping on the envelope. Uh, you know it can be verified with the university that an alumni in question can be verified for degree claimed to have achieved. In fact, my hagwon does this, usually costs $10 to do it online or by phone with a university or the U.S. Dept. of Education. I hope Korea is reading this one. Lets be reasonable, if this cultural exchange is to be continued with growing reputation in positive light, Korean immigration needs to get consistent in a fair and predictable manner where we can be prepared enough to successfully make it happen without being forced into situations of uncertainty and possible illegal working to get needed money to continue on... |

lol it really depends on luck
my transcripts didnt even have those stupid seals on the back on the envelope, just a little postmark that doesnt even say my uni's name on it, just the city's name. and i already opened one of my envelopes and glued it back down. i've done this for three years straight with the same transcripts and this is for BUSAN immigration. i don't get it either |

Thanks! that's what I figured- he's having more express mailed from the states- just amusing mostly because he's used transcripts from the same Uni 2 times before now and this is the first time they complained. |

Ok, does anyone have transcripts from a KOREAN school? As far as I can tell, you just print them out at a self-serve kiosk, and they do have a dojang (not sure if it's real, and on the blank papers, or a reproduction.)
Sealed transcripts seem to not exist in Korea, to be unavailable from Korean universities. So how can Korea ( ) require them of foreigners?
(I would love to hear from anyone who has different experience with transcripts from a Korean university.) |

Do you not have rubber stamp makers in Korea?
6 dollars I had mine made here in Thailand for an emergency stamp from university. I didn't have to use it in the end but I have it for later if needs be. |
