Will the arcade where they sell video games be open during the holiday? |

Thought so. Thanks. Even today my town is practically deserted. Except E-Mart, shoulder to shoulder there. |

Considering the twisted pleasure I derive from seeing & reading about foreigners going on wild-goose chases and generally getting jerked around by Korea & the Koreans, I really ought not to be doing this.
But here's the site to consult whenever you want to go to Yongsan Electronics Land and aren't sure it'll be open.

Thanks for the link. Good thing I was too lazy this morning to drag my sorry carcass to the subway station as it appears to be closed today too. |

Damn.
I nearly did the same thing myself this morning. I've been meaning to get down there and buy a whack of movies to watch over the long weekend, plus a new pair of headphones, just look around, and maybe buy something totally awesome that I hadn't planned on and don't need. Kept putting it off & putting it off all week. So this morning I was getting suited up for the motorbike, Gulflend stops me and says they'll be closed. So I checked my bookmarked link, and she was right. As she always is.
She's always right about which sorts of places will be open, which ones will be closed, and not just on the actual day (solnal, chuseok, etc.) but on all the days before & after the big day. It's not from reading or hearing it somewhere, and not based on memory ("well, last year the banks were closed but the XYZs were open, so I'm guessing..." ). Nope. It's entirely based on her opinions regarding the... well, the "class", the soo-joon of the people working at a particular kind of establishment. And in the case of Yongsan electronics market, those people are all, in her mind, low-class grubby uneducated "city bumkins" or "country slickers" who slithered into the capital from the deep countryside. So they need an extra day to get back to the farm. |
