I kid you not, I've been trying to remember READ ALL ABOUT IT for years!! It would come up in drunken conversations, with me being the only one who seemed to remember that this show even existed!!

Between that and my recollections of the Great Space Coaster, my friends think that it was all in my head.

I, my friend, owe thee a beer.

Hadn't thought of it in years, but there was an episode of Rod Serling's Night Gallery that creeped me out when I was young. I remember only bits and pieces of it, but some guy killed another and threw him in a dryer. I really don't remember what it was about, but I remember that one part.

The one thing I can't stand are the huge wasps here in Korea--those things have armor plating for an exoskeleton and an equally hard temperament to match. Kill 'em all!

Spiders, other creepy-crawlies, sharks, and the film Watership Down. I loved both the film and the book, but the images of rabbits trapped inside their holes and gassed gave me nightmares.

I used to be scared of being murdered and then did tests and determined people could get to my room without being seen by anyone in the other bedrooms. I also planned where I slept in the bed or where I placed my bed in the room based on intruders. I moved into my sisters bedroom, because she had a bunk bed, her room was next to my parents, and the neighbour's garage was close enough to her window that I figured I could jump if things got tense. Maybe a month later I moved back to my own room.

I'm still afraid of centipedes but much less so and I don't like talking to strangers much.

Being nuked or invaded by the Ruskie Bear.

Now replaced by fear of Norks doing same.

I'd rather it were the Bear.

Why?

Because Asians scare me.

That's another childhood fear I've yet to outgrow.

Aren't a heckuva lot of russians asians?

I was also scared of nukes as a kid, and the apocalpse. I went to a babptist church that was heavy on the rapture and all that bullocks. I can still quote a lot of revelations from memory.

my mom raised my brother and i to be paranoid cold war kids, right down to the bomb shelter in the basement. we would do drills to rehearse what to do when the ussr and the usa finally got down and started dropping nukes on us. once down in the shelter she would quiz us: "the bombs have started dropping. we're in here safely. your best friend is banging on the door to be let in, and has been exposed. what do you do?" sometimes "best friend" was substituted with "the cat," "i" or "your brother." there was only ever one correct answer: "don't open the door." our survival was more important than anyone else's. i usually got the most worked up about having to leave the cat outside...
so yeah. nuclear holocaust was my big fear.
i'm over it now.

In the village where I lived when I was four or five, there was this filthy tramp who was always scavenging in the bins. He was really filthy I mean to the extent where you couldn't see any white skin at all.

One day we were in the car at the traffic lights and he crossed the road behind the car I could see his face very close up against the window and mum said 'I hope he doesn't touch the car!' (the car was white).

I thought about him living outside and knew he would need a cosy place to sleep, that night as I lay in bed I convinced myself he was sleeping under my bed and was so scared I couldn't sleep.

This conviction lasted some time, then we had halloween at school and I was convinced witches were waiting outside my bedroom door to meet the tramp.

oh, and there were definitely ghosts in our old farmhouse, but they weren't that bad because our family dog was there to protect me.
