my mom raised my brother and i to be paranoid cold war kids, right down to the bomb shelter in the basement. we would do drills to rehearse what to do when the ussr and the usa finally got down and started dropping nukes on us. once down in the shelter she would quiz us: "the bombs have started dropping. we're in here safely. your best friend is banging on the door to be let in, and has been exposed. what do you do?" sometimes "best friend" was substituted with "the cat," "i" or "your brother." there was only ever one correct answer: "don't open the door." our survival was more important than anyone else's. i usually got the most worked up about having to leave the cat outside...
so yeah. nuclear holocaust was my big fear.
i'm over it now.

The "yip yip yip" aliens and the two headed monster on sesame street. I think it impaired my english learning

Also was freaked out by that sesame street cartoon with the numbers in the pin ball machine...
dododododo...ELEVEEEEEEEEN....dodododoododod....eleven.

Churches. Churches have always scared the hell out of me. When we were kids my mother was part of an organization that held events for single parents. It wasn't affiliated in any way, but meetings were held in a big old church. The parents usually sat around playing bridge and what not while the kids had the run of the church. I freakin hated it. Dark corners everywhere. Strange statues of some weird guy nailed up on a couple 2x4's. Totally freaked me out. Even as a kid I had an inkling of what a load of bullocks organized religion was, but man, when I was alone in the church (most kids and their parents left before my mom) I was always wondering if I was gonna get it for not believing in HIM hehhe Wink

It's quite irrational ,being a total non-believer, but the only kind of movies that even come close to weirding me out regard demonic possession Rolling Eyes

I used to be really scared when I went to a restaurant toilet- it would be noisy and lively in the restaurant then you get to the toilet and it's errily quiet.

My thinking was that someone could kill me and no-one would notice for a good 10-15 minutes. By which time...oh well I'd be dead anyway, so I don't suppose things could get much worse.
