How long did it take for you to get your degree or other documents back?

If i teach in Korea for my first year, then find another school for the second year, would I need to go through the trouble of getting s notarised degree or anything? Or am I safe to just give immigration my original degree ( since I am in Korea)?

Immigration doesn't keep real degrees, they will just have a quick look at it and hand it right back to you. Notarized copies, on the other hand, are kept by immigration and you'll never see them again.

But what if i am in korea already? If a school offers me a contract, do i need to physically go down to immigration, show them my original degree and then thats all they want with that document?

Your new employer will need to show your original degree along with giving the other documentation (copy of your resume, sealed transcripts, photos, etc) to immigration to get your new visa confirmatipon number.

Immigration will keep ALL of the documentation except your degree. It will be immediately returned to your employer.

If you find a new employer it doesn't matter if you are in Korea or abroad, you will go through the same process as if it was your first job.

I thought I heard that you can just use a notarized copy or notarized letter from the university for immigration instead of the original degree.

My employer is holding my original degree. I asked her about it, she said it is safe. Not that I need it now, I just wanted to make sure it's available when I need it again.

Uh, no, but it's generally understood without talking about it that I do not need it now. I was just inquiring about it, becuase I wanted to make sure I have it still.

Anyhow, I am going to look into getting another original made up ($10 fee) and sent to my mothers place so I for sure have one next December when I need it.

I would try to get it back anyway. You never know if you need to get out of there fast or anything, and I have heard stories about people having a hard time getting them back for some reason anyway. No reason she should need it still I wouldn't think.

I would get your degree back asap. She doesn't need it now that you have done all the immigration stuff , so why is she holding on to it?
Are you a flight risk?
