What if I've already sent off my documents to a school, but I'm now considering another school instead. Teachers that spoke kindly about the school and now writing me back telling me not to go there now that they've gotten paid. By the way, that is not good looking out on the teachers part. We're supposed to look out for one another. Now I don't have my diploma. What are my options? Thanks

WOW Shocked Sorry to hear that. You could try to get another copy from your school. Or tell the school you changed your mind and woud like them back. Hope it works out for you.

To be honest if you pull out this late in the game I think, unless the director has a heart of gold, your chances of getting your degree back are very slim.

Were the others complaints that bad?

These were the complaints
"My first year was *ok*. Lots of sexual harrassment tho. Second year my computer broke - they wouldn't fix it. They want you to teach using power point with the school's computer. I spent hours on lesson plans and when it broke, they said it was fine but I was too stupid to know how to use it. Nice. The school wanted us to sign something that would make us responsible for paying to fix the computers. Meanwhile the guy who is supposed to fix them plays computer games all day. When he tried to fix my computer, he erased all my lesson plans.

My boss favored my co-workers tight skirts and gave her an extra week off for vacation but I got a letter of reprimand because he thought I'd taken more than my 6 sick days - which I hadn't. He sort of apologized.

I heard the middle school kids behaved really badly and there was no help from the Korean teachers. This teacher Cara who was there a year ago got spit on by one of the boys and also told to *beep* off. The classes are also huge - sometimes over 40 boys so if you're new at teaching - it's going to be tough.

All the teachers this year are leaving and have not recommended their friends to take jobs there which is why they have to use a recruiter this year.
There's been a lot of false accusations and unfair treatment.
On top of that the rooms are TINY and are up on a mountain and moldy. Right now the two teachers still there have no heat, no water....
The teachers there now are afraid to write to you because they haven't got their money yet but after Feb. 26th, they will be free to tell you what they think."

WOW that is bad and crazy! At least they told you now instead of waiting for you to get there and find out for yourself.

Wow, that sucks. Don't work there. Order a new diploma.

Hagwon hell.

PS, Who says we are supposed to look out for each other? I mean, it would be nice, but.....

It is actually a private public high school. They offered 6 weeks vacation. It sounded like a really good deal. Guess you never know. I'll tell you what though. If I'm living somewhere for a year, the apartment is everything. I can put up with a crappy job alot better than I can put up with no heat and water.

Sounds like a very strange place. I'd cut your losses man and find something else.

Another idea would be to try to get the teachers there (the ones who have been paid) to get your diploma back. Most likely wouldn't work, but maybe they will take some pity on you.....
