Cheers, thanks for that. Should be a nice little lump sum when I depart.

If I was paying it I'd be a happy camper. I'm not, so it won't be a problem. Smile

yeah... I think Aussies need to start being careful with signing contracts and making sure the employers are paying in. My first employer didn't (she liked hiring kiwis because we're cheap) and that's a year's contributions I could be receiving if I had been more assertive about it and knew my rights as a Canadian citizen

I would, it's going to be a nice chunk of change for me when I leave Korea.

Kiwis are cheap? Why do you say that?

North American accents are preferred(for the sake of the ajummas) and some schools only employ NAmericans eg Poly Returnee

You mean kiwis you know have preferred not to pay into it?

I've always had mine paid in by myself and the employer because I thought somewhere down the line I'd be able to get it back.Goodness knows when though-probably give it another 5 years.

From my observations, newly-arrived Kiwis tend to be paid lower wages and also don't tend to pay into the pension as they can't get it back.

Damn, thanks for the info. If I'm still working here come July 2008, that'll be six years worth of pension payments.

*does happy dance*

Yeah, there is a hagwon that employed me when I first arrived that is unlikely to have paid my pension contributions. Any ideas if I have a hope in hell of reclaiming this?

A quick question. I have been here for about 7 years. For the last 2 I have been working at a university and they had a private pension fund. Before that however I work in assorted hogwans.

Is there any way to check to see how much I have in my pension fund at the moment?
