Euphemism: many posters in this thread have used it as a platform for expressing concerns about language-use that - whilst being outside the category of 'euphemism' - are pressing issues that deserve serious consideration.

Disphemism/reality: Many English teachers on Daves clearly don't know what a euphemism is.

A successful attempt to deflect all attention from the person who did it, Justin Timberlake, and toward the person whose clothing was ripped off, Janet Jackson. Classic blame the victim. Remember: it was JUSTIN who coined the term!! Bloody genius. The headlines became: "Janet Jackson's Wardrobe Malfunction" and all animosity toward her... he became like teflon and the issue of him doing the gimmicky yanking off didn't stick, didn't even register.

Sunshine Policy

Gives the impression that they had diplomacy in mind, but in fact they were throwing tons of cash to North Korea in the hopes that it would delay its collapse in order to protect the South Korean economy.

"I for one"

Perhaps not a euphemism, but certainly superfluous and unnecessary...

Similar is "because of the fact that.... or due to the fact that" usually used in an attempt to bolster an opinion

Bondrock:

Yeah. Along those same lines, I cringe when I hear "very true."
