Why not go teach in Taiwan, Vietnam or Thailand for a short stint till your visa period expires? |

Maybe you could try a different country for a while. |

I thought about Mexico but really all these jobs need funds. I don't have em, I was paying student loans, never got paid for last months work because of said boss and can't sue the school unless I return to Korea. Then it cost $1900 for a one way plane ticket home.
Words of advice, don't ever run to Incheon wanting an emergency plane ticket home. It took me 5 days to get a plane ticket. I slept in the Sauna with naked Korean women for 3 days and vomited in the airport hospital for a day out of anxiety. |

Oh yeah, also wanted to say being back in Canada O" It really is true: if you had a good esl teacher they said to have a plan when you return. If you don't have a plan and a savings don't return or you're going to return to a deadend. Nobody is going to recognize your experience..except the friends that think "you're amazing" and the odd "good for you!" Had a few of those but those were the educated ones. Reality hits and your friends who are your true friends really just want to remember the way things were. It's a blessing and a hard thing at the same time. But, reality hits and it's the same ol' type your resume up 50 freaking ways and apply for 50 jobs a week. Seriously, is a good thing about Korea, the fact that you will get a job in 10 minutes. Doesn't necessarily mean you are a loser or not equipped for esl but sure beats flipping burgers at BK or MickeyD's. |

I mean this in the kindest, most sincere way. You sound very depressed, beyond a "missing-korea/Canada sucks" level; I think you should talk to a doctor and see if he/she can refer you to a mental health professional. It's good to talk to someone. You've obviously been through a very traumatic time, and it helps to talk to someone, and to address your feelings with someone who is trained to help you. I wish you the best. |

Don't come back. Korea is never as great as you remember it to be the second time around. |

Do what you have to do to survive. You have 3 or 4 months--that time will go by fast. In the meantime: temp, donate blood, become a street performer- paint yourself silver & stand motionless on a corner in your downtown & develop a brief unique move that you do only when someone hands you a dollar...
Korea seems like the only place that will pre-pay your ticket--so in the meantime, scrape together what you can. I know it sucks. Been in yr exact situation. Hang in there |

First, really sorry to hear about your niece. That's a horrible way to lose someone.

blaseblasphemer wasn't trying to be mean. No need to bite. It makes people less willing to offer help and advice.
Good luck. |
