I changed co-teachers and I would like to buy my outgoing co-teacher a gift certificate at a local department store. Are gift certificates normally available at department stores? I assume I will need the teachers name, any other information I will need?

I got one as a gift - I've seen desks specifically for that puropse and I don't think you need the person's name, they are a generic certificate for X amount. The desk for gift certificates is often next to the customer service desk which is, in my experience, usually on the main floor or the top floor.

Hope that helps...

A lot of places sell gift certificates, especially shoeshine boxes on the street. You might get a discount BUT check the certificates carefully.

They're common. Don't need a name.
