My uni has arranged to sell 7 of us to a local middle school without doing any changes to our visas.
I know and you know it's illegal, but what can I show my boss to convince him?
I'd like to get something specific. Any help will be appreciated. |

| There should be something in your contract about you not being able to work outside the University. Therefore it should be reciprocal. http://www.moj.go.kr/HP/ENG/eng_03/eng_306050.jsp Try this page if that doesn't work. It is from the Ministry of Justice site. |

| Well, I can tell you that immigration would likely approve it quite easily, because it involves a uni and a public school. If the pay and hours agree with you, then just get it OK'd. Easy peasy if all paperwork is in order. If they won't agree to do that, then don't teach it. |

I was in a similar situation last year at my Uni. We were all working voluntary (/mandatory!) elementary school gigs, but the Uni wouldn't add the locations to our visas. I figure it was because they had defined us as part time workers to avoid paying us the year end bonus, and couldn't add another work place. I may be wrong about that, though.
Whatever. If you don't want to do it, don't do it. If you've signed a contract and got a visa, they don't have a leg to stand on. |

| Write the words "Not without proper changes to my ARC at immigration". And then show that to him. |

Pretty much what I was thinking. I'm in my sixth month of this contract already and I figure if they fire me for not doing something illegal, then labour board might see it my way.
There's absolutely nothing in my contract that says I can be farmed out anywhere.
Thanks for everyone's input.

Even if it was in your contract its a clause that asks you to break the law. And immigration laws trump any contract your school might come up with. |
