My favorite, althogh I haven't seen it in a long time, is the one that warns against the hazards of coke machines. The commercial flashes a shocking statistic - that over 100 people die each year from coke machine related accidents.

Please people -- respect the power of the coke machine. A refund is always available. There is no need to assult the innocent, yet deadly machine....If need be, just avoid the machine at all costs and never, ever look directly at it.

when i was there, my favorite commercial was the ad for the "special forces" set to the song "the green beret" - the footage they used was hilarious - i nearly fell out of my seat every time it came on. "trained to live of nature's land.... trained in combat... hand to hand..." i can't really explain why it was so funny, and i have no idea if it is still on.

I haven't seen the Korean version of AFN, but I was stationed in Germany back in the early/mid 90's and used to get a kick out of one PSA that was all about the dangers of not turning on your lights when you get up in the middle of the night. Apparently this is a more insidious danger than enemy fire or VD.

I used to tempt fate by dancing around in complete darkness, but then I've always been the "running with scissors" bad boy that your Mom warned you about.

That was one of the main things that drove me out of the Army; the constant assaults on your intelligence. Granted, there are a lot of folks in military service that joined up because they couldn't figure out how to work the deep fryer at Denny's, but Jesus, can't we just let Darwin sort them out and clean up the gene pool?

For me it's on AFN radio:
The Adventures of Tim And Tom As They Explore Korea

Tom: What the hell Tim!? This isnt America! These people do things differently!

Tim: Relax, they may be strange, but it's our duty as Americans to forgive them for being weird.

Tom: You're right. Lets keep up with the colonization!

My take on it anyway.

I got several 1) Jan #2 when she forgets about her MOPP gear and gets gassed my favorite line "Gee this mopp gear really does work" great spoof of #2 on my list:
2) Jan and the reflective vests nothing like the original
3) The anthrax ninja scary after 9/11, however reminds me of the Saturday Night Live "Land Shark" sketch
4) Don't forget to check your mail
5) Keep your door to your room locked with the girl having all her stuff stolen while she is yapping on the phone
6) the state quiz "This state is a group of islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, which state is it?" "Uh, Utah" is what my 9th graders in Texas would say Wink

so many to choose from

Top secret emails, red disks, too many copies, lots of rich new friends.... I love it. Brianna is really up to something, what should we do?

Poor guy holding the stuffed tiger...he's gotta sell out his lady.

There isn't any AFKN in Jeonju but while in Seoul one time I saw a great PSA telling soldiers how they should and shouldn't carry boxes. They shouldn't carry them stacked with the smallest on the bottom and the largest on top. That's a no no. Boxes apparently should be stacked with the largest on the bottom and the smallest on top.

Don't make a beer bottle a weapon. Now who's the loser?

I would love them to bring back the anthrax ninja. A new part 3 would be really great

'If your friend says "I'm thinking about killing myself," they might actually be thinking about.......committing suicide.'

---- No kidding? How many years did you have to go to school to learn that one?

My #1 favorite:

"Argghh Matey! Pirate away 10% of your pay!"

A buccaneer with a parrot on his shoulder reminding GIs to save some of their earnings. Last saw this one over 4 years ago.

#2
"K: Mom, did you get the stuff for my school project?
M: Sorry dear, I forgot.
K: Aw mom, we already have eggs!"
Remember to always make a shopping list before going to the commissary...

I've always been partial to the one about the evils of going grocery shopping without a list. Yep, that's a bad, bad thing, which no morally upright citizen should do...

Mrs Rasta mentioned all the "pratice good op-sec" ones. Especially the one that is set in the bar in Casablanca. That one is a scream to her

what I like is how they'll follow a "Rugged Individualism made America what it is today" with a "Dont stand out in a crowd or you'll stand out to terrorists!"

Plus the "If you smoke pot, you're responsible for 9/11" ad

I always like the cheesy one about stealing stuff from the PX. "Think you'll steal something when other people actually use money..."
The look on the guy's face when he knows he's busted is priceless. He has absolutely no acting ability!
Then there's always the ugly generals who are professing the values of the armed forces. Those guys need make-up and a wieght-loss program. At the end of every commercial they say something in Korean and it has to be the worst attempt I have ever heard. Stiff as a board in front of the camera too. And how about the one where Mom forgets to buckle-up the baby? For some reason the baby sounds a lot like a cranky adult.
