Do you sometimes feel like Korea is making you uglier or older? Do you feel flabby and pasty?

LOL! Stings, doesn't it?
I'm sure I will feel it more the second time around. The first time, I actually spritened up considerably. I was 80kg 'pon arrival in Korea and reduced to 70kg 'pon first return to Australia. I hope that happens again, but don't expect it to.

OP, the amount of time you're there can have a significant effect on your flabflobfactor. I suspect the motherhucker has been meaning to do this for some time now and finally got around to putting in a request for support...? Soccer is a sweatsport and a savage reducer of unmentionables.

Is there still a cricket club for waegookin during the sun months in Seoul?

Well, international travel does place unnatural stresses on your body which does turn the clock ahead hastily... I sure feel and look older immediately after coming to Korea. Honest truth.

Sorry if you do feel older after travel, but most people I know who travel and/or work around the world always look and act more youthful than those who stay in one place and work themselves to the bone in a "regular" job. Despite the short-term stressors that international travel may cause, I believe international travel relieves stress, espcecially when compared with the stress of working a mediocre job.

I think you guys are misunderstanding the point of this post....

But to be honest, I do think that most of my friends here look younger than most of the people of a comparable age back home....

Come play soccer on SUNDAY....

I understand your motive, and I love soccer, but I was just running with the conversation. I'm glad soccer went well for you today.

I am in great shape after being her 1 1/2 years. I have shed all my pounds and my friends tell me I look ten years younger than when I first arrived.

I feel old because my Korean friends point out my wrinkles and tell me I'd better hurry up and get married. I feel fat because Koreans tell me I am and then pinch my fat. Despite the "fat" and "old" comments, I'm also constantly being told I'm "sooo beauti poul". In the end I'm just "confusing" (my new favorite word).

But here I feel removed from some of the superficial aesthetic pressures of home. I don't feel particuarily beautiful in Korea, but I'm not getting caught up in the current of "what's hot and what's not", so I don't care either.

Another reason I like Korea. Beauty magazines have no effect on me.

And as far as Koreans making comments that we consider rude....it's just their way...not intended to be mean or spiteful, and though I've cried myself to sleep on many occasions in the past, now it doesn't phase me, I just laugh it off.
