If i re up with Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education(GOE) am I automactically supposed to get 2 more weeks of vaction time?

Vacation ??

If you re-up with GEPIK you get 2 calendar weeks off for a home leave at the end of or between contracts. You remain on salary and they will pay for your airfare home and back.

Do tell, they were trying to tell me I could take both of my 2 weeks of vaction for the contract year and go home.

reference - GEPIK contract, article 9, subsection 2:

2. In the case of renewal of this contract pursuant to the foregoing 1, Employee shall be given a two-week (weekends and holidays included) home leave vacation period which is extra, beyond the 14 days� vacation. Home leave should be taken in the summer vacation just before or just after the contract year is up.

You should also be aware that your 14 days vacation time does NOT include weekends or Korean national holidays.

Article 12 (Paid Leave)
1.Employee shall be entitled to a paid leave for a total of fourteen (14) working days during the term of the employment. Paid leave may be taken at any time school is not in session, and must be approved by Director at least 15 days in advance. Saturday and Sunday do not count as vacation days. If Employee renews the contract, up to 7 days of unused yearly paid leave may be carried over to the new contract period. This carried over paid leave may be used in the new contract period, but it may not be carried over into any subsequent contract period.

Hey, I have the same question.
I have the same clause.
Can I interpret it to mean that if I re-up, then in January or February, I will be entitled to 14 paid weekdays, in addition to whatever vacation my new contract stipulates? So theoretically, I would be entitled to 21 work days or about a month out of country...?

(Generally that stipulation is one week during the winter holiday and one during the summer.)

If they let you pile your re-up time and your winter vacation time together, then yes. You can also bank up to 7 working days from one calendar year to the next.

That would be cool for some. 14 days for re-up. 14 days standard. 7 days carried from the year before.

35 days. Not bad.
