I got my xtx1900 in Busan just when it came out I think the NA difference and Korea was like 40 bucks.

This is my thinking too. You have to be carefull and check on line prices first. You have to know what you need/want and how it works.

I have shops where I have purchased from in the past many a time. These are people I trust.

Sometimes the guys will "see you comming" and think of a price or a line. It's the same at either technomart or Yongsan.

BTW: Be really carefull buying hard disks in the "open air" (whatever it is ) part. They are usually used (as someone here already stated) and have bad sectors and in some cases data still on them. Make sure you get a receipt and warranty for longer than a month. Better yet, head indoors and get a NEW drive with good A/S for a little more cash.


What of a new toy?
Me, I got a new PC a few months back thats really quick, so I suppose I will check out the Nintendo Wii as it's modded and the games are on-line everywhere. It looks like fun for me and the wife.

The PS3 isn't modded yet and I don't know if the Paradox loader really will work, Also this Blue Ray vs HDDVD thing is still up in the air a bit.


I like Yongsan beacuse I can look, touch, read specs and try things. I can't do all that on-line.

youngsan blows!! you can buy everything you need online! and its cheaper!

I have built all my systems from online stores in korea. sure they are based out of youngsan! but I dont have to waste my time driving down there and trying to save 2000 won on an item! have it all made from 2 or 3 stores.. let my fingers do the walking!

and when you want to buy like ONE item! enuri is way cheaper than any store in youngsan!

Yongsan sucks. You have to go to many stores and check the stuff out, and then you have to make sure you're getting a good price.

As previous posters said, the quality of some hardware is not up to snuff. I wanted a 5" external case for my IDE DVD burner, but all the stores had were some cheap ones made in China. I had to wait till I went to Japan.

I went to Yodobashi Camera in Osaka, and I was able to get stuff without hassles. It makes you appreciate the one stop electronics stores.

Koreans aren't buying Chinese products because they don't trust them.

After living here for a while, I have come to the conclusion that Korean businessmen import cheap/defective products (along with some OK products) at ultra-low prices, then dump them on the Korean public, making a substantial profit. Many of these items include cheap things like cables (as mentioned above) that are almost more of a bother to return than to just keep and throw away. The high failure rate of these products has soured local opinion about Chinese products, IMHO.

Is this the fault of the Chinese, or local Koreans who import the sub-par crap, then sell it as new in an attempt to make a huge profit?

i picked up a 320m 8800gts for 310k last weekend

probably not as good/cheap as some brands/deals in the states, but it was less that i was expecting to have to pay
