Hey guys - been here a while and gone through the standard amount of shite. I've been looking fr a full-time jobin Seoul for a couple of weeks now, and check out just a couple of websites - some people say they'll get back to me....and they rarely do (after they initaly reply to my e-mails saying they're interested)...it's like dating all over again!! Seriously, what are methods might I need to learn to get yself a good job (meaning stable, caring staff and average pay and a place to live...). Cheers......... |

Seriously?
Leave Korea. This is just a better paying McDonalds job without the stability. |

Getting a good, stable job as you described it above are all about pot luck, especially when you are applying from outside Korea!
Have you been using other job sites besides Dave's? The trouble these days seems to be that schools are using recruiters more rather than applying directly. Have you posted your resume on various sites?
All I can suggest is do your homework. Speak to other foreign teachers at the schools you're interested in before signing on.
Hopefully if someone here knows of a job opening, they'll PM you about it |

It depends on what your definition of caring is. My hagwon has been pretty fair to me. I didn't get thrown into teaching, they made sure I had necessities upon arriving in Korea, they took me to get my visa (f-4), and they check to see how I'm adjusting every once in awhile. And I get paid on time (so far...)
It isn't paradise by any means, the hagwon has its share of the usual problems, overtime pay disputes, issues about following the syllabus to the T etc.
Definitely try to speak with teachers already there. I didn't but lucked out, they're a good group of people. Also, take some time to look over a contract that gets sent to you. Don't let them hurry you into accepting it. Ask questions if you have them. I think it's best to speak directly with the school and not through a recruiter.
Hope this helps some. Cheers |

Yeah, and Beckerson believes that -- yet still teaches here. Kind of sums up the quality of the individual, don't you think? |

Gollum considering your diatribes about how horrible Korea is and how dumb Korean students are, you still stay here. You're one to talk. |
