hmmmm.......Idon't say this is the first time I had seen an article like this one, but it seems they are trying to crackdown on locals as well as foreigners...

4 million won a month? Thats mere peanuts compared to some of the people I've worked with in the past....

The director of the English Tourism Department at one hogwon I worked at was making between 5 to 8 million won a month, depending on the season of the year (in the fall/spring- not that much, but in the winter/summer- BOOM! balla'!)

As for me............no comment Wink

Korea has the same problem as The USA and many other countries. That problem is that the vast majority of people who receive a PhD because they want to become a college professor will never receive such a position. So, in that case, why not hire for such positions Koreans who have a real PhD?.

Hmmm...

Any legal eagles out there? I can see how forging a diploma to get a job would be grounds for dismissal, or grounds for a civil suit...but how exactly is it a criminal offense? Why is it a police matter?

Forgery & Fraud...and usually would have a fine/jail equal to the amount that person earned while at whatever company.

In the English newspapers. Koreans murder each other every day, I'm sure. But if you only read the KT/KH, only about 3 people get murdered a year in Korea and 2/3 of the time it's a foreigner. Indeed, banks are never robbed in Korea. There's zero petty crime in Korea. According to what's absent from the KT/KH.

I trust you can read Korean and you're speaking from experience? You rarely encounter there stories in the Korean media? Yes?
