It just appears to me that this advertisement is a little to good to be true for teachers fresh off the boat. So, here we go. The overtime wage of 18,000 Korean Won is unacceptable. Is there really a computer in the instructor's apartment? NFW! The director is reliable after all, right? Rolling Eyes It's good that this director included something about medical. Why doesn't this advertisement include something about the Korean Pension Plan? Does this school pay 50% of the Korea Pension Plan for employees? Negative! What about paid sick days? Come work for me noob and I'll feed you free dinner. Get real! The real kicker is the employees name at the bottom of the page "Gerard Amand." Expect to talk to some crook "Gerard Amand Rolling Eyes " from John Shin Top if you converse with an employee over the telephone or communicate via. e-mail.

Gotta back up alabamaman on this one. I've had friends teach at this crooked hogwan and every one of them was cheated on health insurance, pension, OT pay, and the apartments are rat traps. Seen it all with my own eyes. Rolling Eyes

This place has had multiple runners. Stay away. Rolling Eyes

Why would you say its false advertising?

I recently finished my contract with John Shin Top and I can attest that all that is mentioned in the ad is provided. When I arrived in the apartment, there was a computer and I asked if it could not be there since I had my personal computer. I went to the Pension office two days before I left the peninsular and (havent received the transference yet, but) had no problem filling out the paper work. Was even told how much money I should expect.

Before you pass judgment, speak with those you are working there and those, who have recently finished their contract.

Wylies99, youre not worth responding to!

Truth hurts- shame the runners haven't posted, yet.

Oh, and Sharon, you got your pension because others made a big issue of the pension with the owner. Rolling Eyes You should thank them for the grief they suffered.

Just been offered a job here. Anyone have more up to date info on this hagwon. This is the place where they want me to work for a month before sending me to Japan on my visa run.

You can PM me. It would be nice to hear from a previous teacher,

Like the advice says in the other thread: Don't take the job, especially if you are going to work illegally. If the guy doesn't look out for you by having you work illegally, you think he will ever look out for you?

In this day and age, get your visa in your home nation. In a month the visa rules might change and you might not be able to go to Japan. This place clearly has its head up its ass from the get go.

I have a discussion board that offers a blacklist. Post there with no fear of having it disappear.

Thirded. There is the other thread about this stupid idea of a "try out month" It's illegal. If after the month they're not happy then you've outstayed your welcome and will get fined. You'll pay this. Then there is the whole minefield of not being paid for your work, legally you'll be up the river without the paddle.

Sometimes I think that some people lack the basic common sense to think some things through. Would make it so much easier if they did.
