Would anyone be interested in starting a book exchange? English books are so expensive here and I'm running out of things to read...

Here's my idea:

I would volunteer to use my place as a sort of "library" and every month or so I could designate a day where people can come exchange books, or just donate English books if they don't want to carry them anymore. No money for books--just a 1 to 1 trade, first come first serve.

Is there already something like this? Or does anyone have suggestions?

this is a perfect demonstration of why all the sticky threads are WORTHLESS.

Mod Edit- Try to see if you have what it takes to express your point with out swearing (or trying to go around the swear filter).

Sounds much better than some bar in Itaewon.

Where in Korea are you?

I know the exchange in Itaewon is hard to get to especially if your outside Seoul (I'm in Incheon and it's still a jog for me), but it was worth it. I went earlier this month and exchanged a bunch a books. Since then I've finished two.

Here is the info:

Well, I think it got started by some teachers meeting in Tapkol Park, then it was moved to an institute near Kwanghamun, where we met monthly for a few years. After we could no longer use that place a member offered a place in Yeongdeungpo for a few months and then The Wolfhound offered us space. Sure it is a bar. The nice thing is, however, that if you can't make it during the once a month scheduled exchange, the books are left on a shelf that is accessible whenever the bar is open. This makes it available to more people. Also, when you have a couple hundred books in the pool, it just makes sense not to have to lug them around every month. Another plus is that the Wolfhound is easy to find and centrally located within Seoul.

We welcome anyone to take advantage of this free service.
