Rapier couldn't land a job because of his Zimbabwean accent. |

Hahahaha!!! Bradley you're cracking me up now!! Actually i had a job after 3 days. However I was only there on a 1 month visa. I couldn't have afforded another visa run at the end to HK or wherever, so if it was going to work, My school had to process my ARC and health test rapidly. But the director started to waste my time. After the interview and demo I was told I had the job. I started. Then I was told I'd have to do a 10 day training/induction period on survival/minimal pay. I reluctantly agreed. I told Director that my visa was 1 month, time was short, and would she please hurry up with my health test, etc, because I wasn't going to pay for another return flight to get a new visa if they took too long. In theory, 1 month is just long enough to get all this done and dealt with.
But she didn't. It was always tomorrow, tomorrow we do it. And then she said that I was still on my probation period, and they hadn't actually decided to accept me or no yet. So, annoyed, I ran away to Taipei to start my own jobsearch. Plenty of part-time offers. But still, the feeling that I was running out of time and cash to sort out my own accaom, everything...Basically, my Korean escape plan was not well thought out.
And anyway, I wasn't too impressed with the bushiban set-up there. Basically every taiwanese school crams those yelling kids in, 20 to a class on average. The whole teaching style is different. theres no textbooks, no reading writing exercises allowed. Its full- on "conversation" classes to large herds of uncontrollable bouncing, screaming kids. My whole system of games and exercises is suited to classes of around 10.
in addition, Taiwan was too humid and sticky; i would've had to invest in an expensive death-trap scooter; The schools don't set you up with everything like they do here. AND the chicks weren't as good looking as in gimchiland.
So I decided to cut the stress and come home to good 'ol Korea. I love Korea! |

Glad to have you back, Rapier.
I guess it's good advice to have a few thousand bucks handy if you plan on changing countries. Would seem to make the transition process a whole lot smoother.

I wish you would have talked to me.
I've been based out of Taipei for the last year and probably could have helped you out on job leads and accommodation.
That's too bad.
I know how hard it can be to move from country to country to get set up.
I've done it 4 times.
You gotta have a nice reserve of cash though when you make these moves. |

Welcome back Rapier.. actually I'm surprised you didn't have some money already from having been in Korea? Or did all of that go to past debts?
Well, at least you tried and you got to do some 'comparitive analysis' and seems like you'll at least be back in Korea and refreshed from it.
Actually, I don't know about you.. but when I came back to Korea from Taiwan.. the masses and masses of beautiful Korean women coming out of every corner and just teeming all over the place was overwhelming.. quite a contrast to Taiwan. I did see pretty women in Taiwan but nothing like here. |

Thanks all, -yeah it nearly worked if only my initial job had orked out. I've only worked in Korea the past 4 months. Most of my savings from this went on debts as you say, my little holiday and tour round korea, plus my risky escape bid to Taiwan.
As you say tiger, korean women are definitely better looking, on average.
So yeah, its "byebye Taiwan, hello korea." |

You guys are bullshitting yourselves with respect to the women...
There are shit loads of sexy women in Taipei!!!
Some of the most beautiful women I've seen in my life...
And Korean women come second to Japanese girls anyday!
If you think Korean girls are sexy, you're going to loose it over the Japanese girls in Tokyo!!!! |

I might be interested in talking to you about that soon since I expect to make the move there after this contract. New years. Any decent adult teaching jobs there or schools that teach all ages. |

No prob - you just give some advanced warning and I'll start asking around.
I wish some of these guys like Rapeir and Chi-Chi would have asked me for info - I've been turning down work in Taipei because I'm so busy.
Seriously, Rapier is going to go and freeze his ass off in Korea this winter and not taste any of this Taiwanese pu*ssy becuase he didn't have enough saved in the bank - too bad! I feel for him.
So! Make sure you have at leat $3,500 U.S. saved up for the move.
Anyways, let me know when you plan on being here and I'll start asking around.
Yrs.
