Hello, Are E2 visa holders allowed any benefits for childcare costs ?? I know I would pay way more back home but considering my salary and I am a single parent it is still a lot. I have kept receipts for all tuitionpaid out to a registered private kindergarten. If any parents have any info. on this topic please let me know. I also believe Korea should really step up on supporting foreign workers more. We stimulate the economy by spending all of our hard earned dollars from teaching on many goods and services here... but that could be a start to a rant...
Thanks |

I think I will get the vice principle from my middle school to get on the blow horn with the school employees. They must know of the forms that have to be filled out... Same with back home, if you do not dig nobody will tell you anything... |

Investing in early years of children's development and education
The South Korean government believes that investing in early years of
children's development and education is crucial to the future well-being of today's
younger generation. As such, the government implemented the "Supporting
Kindergarten Tuition for Children from Low-income Families" programme in 1999,
under which families covered by NBLSS could obtain financial assistance for placing
their children aged below five in childcare programmes. Needy families with
income below a certain threshold set by the Ministry of Health and Welfare are also
eligible to apply. The government has also implemented another social welfare
programme to provide needy children aged five with one year of free pre-school
education and childcare services before starting formal schooling.
Low-income parents who have children attending secondary schools can
receive the government subsidy to cover the school fees. Furthermore, the
government provides vocational training to those young people who do not wish to
pursue higher education, in an effort to equip these early school leavers with the skills
necessary for employment and business start-ups.

Thanks for both of you providing sensible feed back... there still are some worthy individuals on this site.
I actually think this is the leg work that has to be completed around this issue. S. Korea still does not know how to deal with their foreigner population in many facets, i.e. health and human social welfare... At least outside of Soul that seems to be the case. Many more families will be moving here to establish a life here... |

Hi, I check with "Seoul help center " site about your question, here is their answer about "childcare benefits" :
------
We contacted the Ministry of Gender Equality & Family, and were told that unless the child is in the Korean family registry, the child is not entilted to any benefits. However, if you have specific questions about benefits, please contact us again. We will try to find an answer for you.
-----
Hope this is clear for you. |

Hi. Thanks for your time. I was also told by my vice principle when he called the city public administration office that my child 'has to be Korean' to receive any discount on child care fees.
Have a nice day,
Bye. |
