Hi,

I am trying to copy some MP3 files to a CD.
Some other albums copy no problem, but these files won't copy.
I can see no difference in the file properties, and each time I try to send to D drive, I get a 'Problem Copying' error box appearing.
It says, "windows encountered a problem while trying to copy this folder".

I have tried just sending individual songs, but it won't do that either.

Is there a way round this problem?

Thanks,
Ken

Do the songs play on your computer? it's possible that they've become corrupted.

Try a different burning program.

Or, it could be that your albums have maxed out the available space on the CD and that is why you can't fit anything else. Try burning on a new cd and tell us what happens.

Or I've found that a lot of cheap blank cd's here don't work half the time...

What program do you use? If you are just using the Windows CD maker, that might be the issue. Try using a commercial program like Nero; it is easy to use and you can test your CDs for errors before or during writing.

It is also possible that you are having buffer underrun issues which basically means that your cache or memory have been filled and the writing program can't keep up with the speed that your burner is trying to write the data to the CD. Try two things: set the burner to write at a slower rate and make sure to close any programs while you are burning a CD, especially your music player and any video players.

It is definately not a space or size issue.

I have only played a few of the songs, but they seem to play fine.
If they became corrupted, would they still play?
Is there a way they can play OK, but there are some properties not allowing them to moved?

I am finally going to see if they can be moved via my mp3 player.
ps- deepburner has the same problems

Thanks for help^^
God Bless, Ken

I have tried playing the songs, this works OK.

I then transferred 200 Mb to my MP3 player, no problem and they play.

I send from my MP3 player to my D: drive, the same error message keeps coming back, "unable to move files....".

I really haven't a clue, but will try a google if no-one else is any the wiser?

Thanks,
Ken

Do you have those files in a shared folder that is open to other p2p or torrent users to download from? If they are, it is likely that your file sharing program is using them while you are trying to access them for burning, moving, or playing (it's not possible for two programs to use a file at the same time).

If it's not this issue, then follow what I said in my previous post.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice, but I am still no further ahead.

I not getting anywhere near the burning stage, but just after I copy or send to D:, the window pops up to say it has encountered a problem. Then another pops up to say the files cannot be moved.

I have re-tried with .exe files I was wanting to copy to CD and take to work to install on the PC there. One was just a back-up CD of my GPS program.

I have seen nothing on the MS support pages, or google.
So strange, it must be something stupid?

I am also pretty sure it's not a torrent sight or anything.
