So walking home today I see a commotion up ahead. 2 Koreans are turning the sky blue with obscenities. Upon closer inspection one person has the other one in a headlock, the others friend joins in by aiming a smack at her head. For the most part everyone is standing around enjoying the spectacle or walking on, even the old folks give it less than a glance. The taller and prettier one has the other by the hair, swinginging her round and shaking her. Clearly another mismatch.

Its time koreans understood that foreigners will not tolerate fighting when they are around. I jump into the fray and prize apart the 2 miserable combatants, ordering them "guman!". There is blood on the face of the shorter one. I push her away with her friend. Oops, nobody is there supporting her. The others I push away in the opposite direction. Nobody fights in the presence of the peacemaker. Then the whole gaggle of 16yr old schoolgirls slope off back home. The wayggook has brought peace to Korea once again...

I think Asian and Westerners have totally different mentality when it comes to street fighting.

I've travelled to many Asian countries and seems they think street fightings are a great form of entertainment. They just watch the fight until one gets really messed up.

In western countries, people either call the police or jump into help or defuse the situation.

Totally different mentality......

Maybe you all have been away from home for too long. I remember western culture being more violent, with people often attacking others for the sheer sport of it. These days I usually hear about a big fight involving my friends back home once every three months or so.

Indeed.

Where I come from is 10 times more violent than a "Takeshima is Japanese" parade down the center of Jongno.

But breaking up fights when you're a foreigner can be amusing as well as altruistic. The embarrassed and don't-know-what-to-do-next look on the faces of the Koreans is priceless.

the uk is extremely violent indeed when it comes to street-fighting; in thailand it is not common but what you will find is that the fights that do occur are totally one-sided with 10 guys kicking one guy on the floor.

same goes if you are a foreigner and you are in a fight with a thai. thais will leap into the fray and attack you simply because you are a foreigner trying to encroach on their turf. i actually beat up two thais who tried that much to my satisfaction as i had been first punched in the back of the head repeatedly before i realised what was going on and then kicked in the head by the other whilst i was wrestling the first on the ground.

still. only 2 fights in 2.5 years and only one against the locals. peace.

I can tell from this thread that you are a big man. Because you're not too embarrassed to post on this board after that thread where you insisted Osaka was in a different time zone.

The only people he will hurt if he does that is the natives. Then how can the natives be protected from themselves? Won't someone think of the natives ?!?

Don't be a child. It's done. Let it pass. You'll find something new to criticise about soon enough.

Hahahahahaha Laughing

The question remains however.. was it a good deed? because it takes bravery to calm an out-of-control public display of shrieking pubescent violence.
