If you're into the fight game, this weekend is full of action that should be for you. Right now there are torrents up for the latest UFC FIght Night and the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter season 5. The new season will see the inception of a new lightweight weight class and is supposed to be the best season since the first.
Following that, on Sunday we will have the near-simultaneous showings of PRIDE 34: Kamikaze and UFC 69: Shootout. Get ready to channel surf, because we'll have them both on Korean cable. PRIDE is usually shown on Super Action, but if anybody has info on the UFC's station, let us know. We'll be Georges St. Pierre, Wanderlei Silva, Diego Sanchez, Kazuyuki Fujita, Ricardo Arrono, and many others this weekend. Any predictions? I'm most looking forward to the Sanchez/Koscheck fight. Diego by TKO in the second round. |

******FIGHT NIGHT SPOILERS**********
Kenny Florian looked really impressive against Mishima. I have a soft spot for attacking a dude's post leg. Did anyone see Cro Cop chop that over-rated chump Yoshida down with the same tactic? It's such an interesting change of pace.
Oh, and Melvin? Your ratio of smack-talk to actually bringing it is about 10000000:1 now. Have fun in the WEC. |

******UFC 69 Fight Spoiler Info*********************
Well, GSP either over looked Serra or Serra has arrived. Sanchez fought like a biatch and deserved to lose, that fight was weak. |

Koschek/ Sanchez was a big disapointment, really boring. GSP/ Serra was the surprise of the night, did not see that coming at all. Kendall Grove looked pretty damn good though. |

Shockingly poor performance from Sanchez. Let's face it, the boy is a little "special" in the mental capacity, but he's always brought it in the past. He neglected every part of his game that made him successful in the past. Furious pace and brutal ground n pound were his two most potent weapons and both were completely absent from that fight. He had been training with Oscar De La Hoya, so I suppose that made him think his boxing was invincible as well. Obviously not true. When Kos took him down in the first he took Kos's back in about 5 seconds. Why did he neglect the ground game? Major letdown, let's hope he come back stronger.
Shocking victory for Serra. I like GSP and think he has all the talent in the world, but something about that guy makes me think he doesn't have the mental toughness to be a champion fighter. I don't know if it's because he's such a nice guy, but he doesn't seem to have that mean streak in him that most fighters have. I suppose you could say the same about Randy and he doesn't have that problem, so maybe that's not it. You could see Hughes was ecstatic about the possibility of fighting Serra for the belt. Looks like he'll be wearing it again soon.
The PRIDE fights were entertaining and it's great they put so many fights on one card. Really, UFC can do a lot better than just showing 5 fights. I would've loved to have seen the Herring/Imes or Cuomo/Haynes fights. PRIDE delivered several exciting bouts and the only lowpoint was the unneccesarily long lull in the middle and the overly-emotional goodbye ceremony. Why is it Japanese people are only cold and emotionless or bawling their eyes out? I thought the Don Frye and the Yvel fights were both stopped much too late. Frye was being held up by the ropes and battered senseless. I thought the guy was gonna be seriously hurt. Loved the Sokodjo (sp?) fight, that guy's for real. |
