My co-teachers have a book 3.6.9. they are using for English lesson..teacher english lessons. The first chapter is all about 'I go"

It does not mention anywhere 'I will go'
am I correct in suggesting that 'I will go' is used for future tense?

I know I am going to get slated for not knowign this..but I have a cold, my brain won'[t work and they want an answer.

Actually I am not sure about this book...
another phrase I looked at says
"I go to the zoo quite often' which is fine but it has the negative as 'I don't go to the zoo quite often' which may technically be correct but would we say it??
I would say 'I don't go to the zoo that often'

thoughts?

I would never use quite often in a negative sentence. It sounds awkward to me. I would use very often, too often, that often, but not quite often. This is probably a case of one of those usage rules that is really only tangible to native speakers because it is such a small issue that it doesn't make the grammar books. If we included all of the rules like this a grammar book would have to me a couple of hundred thousand pages long. Shocked
This is why all textbooks should be written in partnership with a native speaker.
Or I suppose it could be a difference in dialect...

While I generally agree with you, it is possible if I were supposed to go to the zoo on a regular basis and frequently did not, I might say, "I don't go to the zoo quite often." Or perhaps, "When I don't go to the zoo, I go to the movies and I don't go to the zoo quite often."

It is a rather fine point however, and I'd hate to have to teach it (unless it was to a very advanced group).

Agreed. Though even then I think I'd say 'quite so often' (comparing not as often as I usually do or used to).
Either way, this is such a fine nitpicky point that, unless we are teaching an extremely advanced class of near native speakers trying to rid themselves of the last vestiges of non-nativeness, time would be better spent elsewhere.
