Throughout history, have there ever been such selfish, ego-centric, out of touch with reality folks as artists?

No connection to the common man. Nothing put pure arrogance and self-absorbtion.

No sense of team, no sense of sacrifice, no sense of brotherhood. So sad.

Ah, I see. I'm surprised that got by me. Anyway, it looks more painful than actually doing some work right now.

well newbie, i think that some jokes are inferior.... but this whole notion of superior/inferior people is not worthy of discussion...

every human has moments of greatness and moments of weakness... there is always someone better, always someone worse... Gretzky's records will be broken... but art is unique... is someone better than Picasso... better than Shakespeare, better than Mozart???... that all depends on the viewer, listener, audience...

and though Gretzky's records will be broken he will still be the Great One... and i saw him play... an artist with a stick...

Again, just trying to show how lame that other thread was. Sure, artists have a gift and will be remembered for a long time, but it has nothing to do with "superior" or "inferior".

The other posts makes it sound like artists should be respected more than others when that's just crap. Some artists are complete animals and nowhere near "superior" to your average blue collar, down to earth Joe.

agreed, superior/inferior are not valid... every human being has some merit.. even "bad" humans can teach us something...

also, i really like average joes... my Dad was an average joe...

respect the art, or don't... the artist as a person is irrelevent (usually)

I realize this is a joke. But even a cursory glance at the history of art shows that many great artists mainlined reality every day. Many had a great sense of brotherhood and sacrifice.

Arrogant, maybe. But who cares?

A great artist can change the world with a single work.
