Think again! I was surprised after watching this video to find out that he's a business savy manager for Sony / BMG using the show to sign new acts to Sony and make big $$$ for himself.
What a genius! Wish I'd thought of that.

Completely agree with what Cowell said in the final minute of the vid .... and Idol and similar shows are great!

he's the producer of the show. Haven't we learned anything from feel good stories of the past...think literature. You need an antagonist.
He plays the part of evil villan quite well. While at the same time saying what people like me think. When they hear bad singers.
Not to mention he is getting PAID |

Branless people dont build careers for themselves like he has done. You may not like the guy but short on brains he is not. Whats better for somenone with no talent to hear before he/she wastes years of his/her life and lots of money going after a dream:
a)you are wonderful, with such a great spirit
b) stop wasting your life and money. You dont have a shot at a career in music because you are a lousy, terrible singer.
Simon is doing these people a favor. |

Well, he is getting paid a lot. But not as the producer. Simon Fuller is the producer of American Idol, not Simon Cowell. Although Cowell does produce a few other talent shows. |

| You can tell he's the boss because when he goes first and gives a 'yes' to a contestant they always advance to the next stage. He even called one back for a second try when the other two judges had said 'No' before he had a chance to say anything. |
