To those interested in soccer/association football� AND also to those who aren�t.

There has been some discussion of K-League here before so allow me to say this�

- it�s not euro level league and while a little on the defensive side, the quality is decent
- it is something to do on a Saturday or esp. Sunday afternoon/evening
- standard varies, some grounds have great atmosphere while a few are just post World Cup venues with a few retards running around them
- it�s a pro game so if you follow pro leagues back home, yeah it�s not the same but if you scratch a little under the surface you will probably see quite a few parallels (esp. if you get to meet or have buddies with the knowledge of who is who, and how the league works)� but that�s part of the discovery
- you can bring your own booze to the venues
- local basketball probably beats K-League in terms of entertainment but the K-league is not a bad alternative. 14 teams, evenly spread around the country, local rivalries, teams who have so called prima donnas as well as decent, hard working players�

Why am I writing this? Boredom. Well.. I miss sports� can�t get AFN where I live (is it still in existence, in fact?) but have grown to like the K-League. In fact I would say� it helped me a bit here. While it may not be what I miss (in fact, as hear, not even euro level) it is good fun and a way to get rid of some tension.

I guess the key is not to take it too seriously�

I like going to K-league games but i don't go for the spectacle.

I go because it is a good place to sink some cheap beers while having a laugh with some friends....occasionally you might see some good football but more often than not it will be 0-0 or 1-0 with some terrible shots on gaol...

I�ve read somewhere that of all the 32 teams that took part in last year�s World Cup, Korea had the league with the lowest goals per match statistic. To be a decent goal scorer you need individuality and some creativity as well as willingness to take a risk (most shots don�t end in a goal).

While I�m not saying that there are no individuals with those qualities in the Korean league, I think the team culture which still exists here at club level (but not national level) has a lot to do with it.

Still, as you said, you don�t go to the matches for the quality of football but it is a decent wee outing where you can make your own fun� and occasionally you will see some decent football.

It�s a classy goal� and to my huge surprise it is from the k-League. Please be patient, the stupid intro lasts about a minute but the goal is worth waiting for. Even if you don�t like soccer/football you might enjoy this piece of acrobatics.

I've watched football in quite a few countries, and Korea ranks pretty low. The standard is poor. It's the least physical league I've seen. I reckon my favourite non-league team in England would give a K-league side a real game by out-battling them
The fan culture here is unlike elsewhere. There is no real passion, just a bit of fun. Fan, is of course, short for fanatic. You live and breath the game. Support here gives the impression of being manufactured and lacking spontaneity. There's no match day buzz.

i saw a gerrard-like goal at incheon daejion a couple of weeks ago. They are not as bad as everyone likes to think. Dragan one of our foreigners has played in spain and for rangers. These guys can play. Credit where credit is due.
