Though it's the by far the closest of any Costco in Seoul from Seongbuk, I've never been to the one in Sangbong. Or anywhere else in Sangbong for that matter. For reasons too numerous to mention, although we are technically neighbours, we tend to view the eastern districts of Jungrang-gu and Nowon-gu as drooling, semi-literate, distant cousins, and thus we try and pretend they don't really exist.

We're thinking of moving to east Seoul, and Sangbong would become my nearest COSTCO. Does it suck? Can anyone compare it Yangjae?

Seriously, COSTCO convenience is a key factor in my quality of life.

I hear that one's being sold to Nonghyup. 125,000 won jars of acacia honey and all that.

It makes me laugh when I notice all these pretentious ajummas shopping at Costco. It's even funnier when you consider that Costco is just a slightly upmarket version of Walmart back home.

Sangbong is a bad area? You guys have got to be kidding me.

"Bad" can mean many things. And in Sangbong, it can mean an infinite number of things. In what way could Sangbong be described as "good", though?

I understand what you're saying, but I don't see how it relates to my post, the part you embolded.

I agree. Went to Costco for the first time this weekend. I liked it so much (Quesadillas, GUACAF*CKINGMOLE!, taquitos, apple pie, Palermo's Frozen pizza, and I could go on and on)...I am now an official Korea apologist.

Best buy at Costco? I'd say the trailMix bars--48 for about W17,000 I think.

It's a sad commentary on a country when expat quality-of-life is measured by proximity to a Costco.

The crowds at Yangjae drive me batty, so it's good to hear that it's not as bad. I guess I won't run into Andre Kim as much though... Sad

It's a sad commentary on a country when even the super-celebrity elite have to do their shopping at the same place as us unwashed foreign rabble.

I guess I just don't see it as a bad area. It's just another Seoul neighborhood. I don't turn up my nose when I walk out of the subway station.

As for it being just like Wal-Mart, I think not.

Good company, good employers.

Did you know Costco is America's number one wine seller?

Well, I explained it to a Korean this way; I can't cook Korean food, so I need to buy Western foods. Costco greatly expands my menu options at home.

Lemme see if I get this, Crazy. A poster makes a whoilly innocuous post about Costco stuff he likes, and you fling rude yet not very clever insults at him for it. (God knows what you find so childish about frozen pizzas, but anyway.) Two days later you return and pat yourself on the back for making the rude yet not very clever insults. And then announce that you yourself have "teenage" hobbies, as though that's really going to get his goat. Confused Much suck.

The NAZI security ladies near the moving carpet - escalator suck at Sangbong Costco.

The photofinishing department there sucks. They promise 1 hour service, but my photos are never ready even after shopping, paying for my sh!t and eating pizza in the restaurant.

The kids running around the ailes suck. Costco needs a friggen day care for these buggers if they're gonna let them in the store. Personally I like the idea of letting them run around the parking lot. Wink Then we could send the children's carcasses to the starving people of North Korea as a peace offering.
