Just what exactly does "blacklisted" mean? I see it all over this forum. I was busted by immigration for working without an E-2, and I had a new job and a new E-2 within 2 weeks.
There certainly was no shortage of schools interested in hiring me, even though I had the previous bad situation. |

Well its easier for a teacher.
If a school is blacklisted, it means it has a bad reputation, and teachers are warned not to work for them.
Since I am posting here again, I will warn again...
DO NO SIGN WITH NEW BRIDGE RECRUITING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn criminals. |

exactly what post one said. if you see a school thatis blacklistd then it might be best to think twice about working for them.
but...
the blacklists do have to be taken with a pinch of salt as people do complain about the most pathetic of things. |

Indeed ratlash,
Teachers being "blacklisted" for running or working illegally is a rare thing.
I have only heard of a few cases where a teacher was denied a new E-2 after pulling a MRun...and he deserved it..
As for school blacklists those have to be taken with a whole jar of salt. It is far too easy for anyone to badmouth a school and get these "complaints" posted on a list. This lessens the credibility of genuine complaints and makes the blacklist system a little bit useless. |

I should have made it more clear....
I was talking about teachers being blacklisted. I understand the school side of it.
Thanks for comments, though. |

My understanding is that blacklisted is a misnomer. I can mean two things with respect to an individual teacher. The first, and most serious, is being placed on Korean Immigrations barred from entry list. This would mean instant refusal from entry at the airport, and immediate deportation. Being placed on this list is usually the result of criminal conviction in Korea or serious infraction of Korean Immigration policy(working without proper visa, long overstay, or suspicion of espinoge). The second is a less serious and official. This is becoming known to the hagwan owners association in a certain area and all of them agreeing not to hire you. I have rumors of a larger scale list but I think it is just rumor. Bottom line is that if you are not on the barred from entry list there is always a chance you could find a job. Visa issuance is another matter. If you are a habitual runner I think immigration warns employers about this. |
